It's hard to know where you fit even within the pregnancy loss and infertility community. Throughout my journey I often felt guilt or embarrassment. I usually didn’t know the gender of our babies we lost as the losses were so early. I didn’t birth or bury a child. I never saw their faces. There are many times I feel guilty or that I'm an imposter in the world of loss.”</image:caption>

<image:title>Who We Are - Who We Are:</image:title>
<image:caption>We are Cesar and Kila Gonzales, founders of I Will Carry You. Our passion for supporting families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss, and our reason for starting this non-profit organization, stems from our unwavering love for our second born, our beautiful daughter, Eva Katherine. On March 4th, 2019, our precious Eva died shortly after her birth due to a rare, fatal, birth defect called Limb Body Wall Complex. We learned of her diagnosis, and impending death, at just 16 weeks pregnant, and we carried her until 33 weeks when she was born via emergent cesarean section. Though she only stayed with us here on Earth a short time, she left an impact that will last forever. When Eva died, we began fervently praying that God would reveal to us how he could use this heartbreak, how he could use US to help others, as well as bring him glory in the process. Now, we believe, that prayer has been answered. We have made it our lives’ mission to not only keep our Eva’s memory alive , but also to help others facing the devastating tragedy that is pregnancy and infant loss. Kila decided to train, through Still Birthday Academy, to become a Certified Birth & Bereavement Doula, and to start this non-profit organization, in honor of Eva. Kila and Cesar believe that families enduring pregnancy and infant loss shouldn’t have to worry about finding and funding the services they so desperately need. That is why they provide their birth and bereavement services at absolutely no cost. All funds are generated by fundraising and by donations from the community. In addition to Kila, the organization now has a team of three other mothers, who have also endured pregnancy and infant loss, and have now trained to become birth and bereavement doulas. Louisiana remains in the top five for pregnancy and infant loss. Now, with more doulas, I Will Carry You has the ability to serve as many families as possible. “Pregnancy and infant loss is one of the most devastating, Earth-shattering, and life-altering things a family can endure, and we, at I Will Carry You, want to help carry them through it. Our community is severely lacking in the support and resources that grieving families need, and we pray that we can make a difference by providing help, healing, and hope through I Will Carry You".” -Kila Gonzales, Founder</image:caption>

<image:title>Pregnancy & Infant Loss: A Silent Suffering - The Need For Support</image:title>
<image:caption>With all the emotions and grief to sort through, parents need support now more than ever. But, for loved ones, helping a friend or family member experiencing pregnancy and infant loss can be very tricky. Without proper education and training in bereavement, most just simply do not know what to say (or not say) or what to do to help. And oftentimes, and with the best of intentions, family and friends say things that make grieving families feel even worse. This specific type of loss (pregnancy & infant loss) is unique and much more complicated than any other, and there are many aspects of it that most cannot even imagine. That is why support from professionals specifically trained and certified in bereavement is essential.</image:caption>

<image:title>Client Testimonials - Hannah D.</image:title>
<image:caption>Soon after learning of my son, Cohen’s, heartbreaking diagnosis, I began to hear of the name Kila and her organization: I Will Carry You. At first, I will admit I was weary. How could anyone or anything make this horrible thing okay? My baby was going die. Nothing or no one could change that. The specialists made sure to make me aware of each week I saw them. Eventually, I decided I needed to meet with Kila. I’ll never forget our first meeting. I instantly felt so comfortable with her. She was warm, loving, compassionate, non-judgmental, and incredibly knowledgeable. We told our stories of our sweet babies. We laughed. We cried, and she gave me hope. Hope that my family and myself would somehow be okay in the end. Kila validated every overwhelming emotion and feeling I had. I finally had someone. Someone who understood, and someone I could relate to. My favorite memory I have of Kila is the day I had (delivered) Cohen. I watched her hold and look at my lifeless baby’s body with such love and grace. I could tell she already knew how precious and fragile life truly was. We both knew this unnatural thing wasn’t what motherhood was suppose to be like, but yet, there we were, together. He was my angel and she treated him (Cohen) like her own. Kila has given me such strength since our first meeting. She has taught me to turn my pain into purpose. Kila is one of the most genuine and kind-hearted people I’ve ever known. Even though it was our tragedies that brought us together, I still feel blessed to have had her as my doula and to be apart of my families journey. — Hannah D.</image:caption>
